dvd and jukebox stuff

I was just wondering about dvd drives and jukebox software.

I haven't put my system all to gether yet but i was wondering if MusicMatch works with linux (mdk 8.2) also what about a dvd drive -- what software to use to run it. Does mdk come with that kind of software? Is there an all inclusive GOOD player that will run all my media?

hello,
i hear mplayer does a good job, i use vlc - which is a DVD playing program

mmjb is soooooooooooooo horrible. i really would not recommend it. it uses windows files directly with it's own poor hack of Wine, utterly nasty.

i'm an MPlayer addict. version 0.90beta1 was released this weekend, and they're gonna start making RPM's for it in a couple of weeks. People will recomend Xine, but that's soooooo limited compared to the versatility of MPlayer

DVD Playing software, my experience, what I've heard about other people experience.

mplayer, good, good
ogle, excellent, excellent
xine, &^%$&^$%, excellent
vlc, OK, good
oms, ^%%$^%$£, haven't heard much about this one

Mplayer is a fantastic all-round media player though, the only problem is that it takes quite a bit of work to set up. You need to compile it from source, and it took my quite a long time to track down the dependacies it needed to compile all the features. If you go with it - make sure you read the documentation first. This is even more important for mplayer then most other software.
