dumping the MBR to an image


hello

can anyone tell me how i can dunp the contents of the master boot record on a device into a file?

i think that

dd if=/dev/hda of=mbr.img bs=512 count=1

should be all you need, this will copy the first 512 bytes from the hard disk to the mbr.img file.
