dualboot woes (win2k and redhat9)

i'm still kinda new to linux, so bear with me, but heres the problem.

i had a win2k install on my hdd, along with a dual boot install of redhat9. i had installed redhat after windows, so the redhat bootloader would come up by default.

the problem is, the win2k install is defunct (surprise surprise), so i need to reinstall it. however, whenever i install windows alongside a redhat install, the win2k setup says it needs to deactivate the linux /boot partition til install completes, and i'm not wholly sure how to correctly reactivate it afterwards. if i try it from within win2k, then neither OS will boot.

I would really appreciate any help here.
