Hey guys, im havin a problem here, I am runnin dual head with 2 cards, 2 resolutions, 2 monitors, 2 seprorate configs.. I want to configure them independently using Mandrake Control center (drake 9) Im still pretty new to all of this, i heard alot of noise about having to configure X86config, but i dont know where to start with that.. I know all of my hardware works, because i was runnin win2k, im trying to get weened off MS crap, but its hard when i cant use my dual head. its like crack.
well what do you want to achieve? don't be worried about editing the file. it's quite hard to imagine how to achieve what ever it is you want, so hand editing is easiest for this sort of thing. look at my own dualhead file
Both Independant, yet i can drag and move windows from one monitor to the next.. When i installed, it asked me if i wanted to configure them independently, thats when i chose, however, it will only allow me to use one configuratoin at one time.
what do you take "independently" to mean? all theat means is to set it up by itself. you set on up, back up the config file and then confgiure the other one. it will depend upon your choice of window manager and wether you use xinerama or not as to wether the window manager will cover both monitors or just one...
Hey,
I remember when I was using a RH config tool, I could add multiple vid cards and attach a monitor to them. You will need to use the mandrake xf86config tool to setup them up, and I believe there is an option that allows the screens to interact - drag windows to another desktop.
try open a terminal and type in xf86c then press [tab]. Also try XF86C [tab], xf86s [tab] XF86S [tab] to get a list of the configuration tools.
Try the NON-independant config and see what happens.
