Dual booting Vista and Slackware; How Can I Fix My MBR if I Bust it?
Alright, I have successfully installed Slackware on my laptop. I can boot it up with my GRUB CD, and booting it normally will start Vista. Now I want to install GRUB to the MBR, but I'm afraid to do so unless I have some way of restoring it to it's original state in case I screw something up. How would I go about doing this? Someone told me that restore CDs on older versions of Windows had the option to let you do that, but of course that is not the case with Vista...
Any help? |
How about taking a peep at the last link in my signature?
It has both tips on restoring both Grub and Vista MBR. |
Search the terms: saving mbr dd
and you'll find plenty of info. This link: http://aplawrence.com/Bofcusm/481.html describes how to save and restore the MBR from DOS and linux. You can also use lilo (see man lilo) Sincerely, Darryl Scroggins |
