Insert your SuSe installation cd into the cd drive.
Reboot.
Follow the instructions. New partitions you need ,like a swap partition, can be created during installation. You will be prompted to do so.
dont I need to configure the MBR somehow???, will I be able to boot back into windows? I was not asking for general installation, but how to configure the comp so i can choose which system to boot into...
That gets set up before you install, and yes, you can boot into windows, and no, you don't need to mess with the MBR- it automatically does it for you.
As for how ot set it up during the install:
ok you'll get through all the language settings and hardware detections and all that. then you want to do a new install. You will finally arrive at the screen that says install type, I think mouse and Kboard config, and then partitioning, software packages, and boot loader config is at the bottom. I believe that if XP is already installed it makes that partition the first boot option, worst case scenario you'll have to select windows on boot and can change that all in the aforementioned menu, or under YaST once you've installed.
Just in case you do mess up the MBR somehow you can always go to the recovery console of windoze, you can fixmbr. I would also fixboot. So don't be worried about messing up if you have the time.
Don't delete any wrong partitions though you can't recovery console that action.
thx, I did all that, and it works fine, now i just need to configure mu wusb11 2.6 wifi adapter, and I dont want linux to be the default in the bootloader, is there any way to change the default os?, i want windows to load automaticaly, not linux..
ok go into YaST, then go to system, then the top right should be the bootloader configuration. Once in there, just click the "default selection," and then click windows, set as default.
Check the HCL for your wifi card, but post what's up here so we can know you're taken care of, if that doesn't do it.
