Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

i'm currently runnin windows ME. i have the installation file for 'slax kill bill edition' on a cd. i'd like to dual boot this with windows ME, so when i start up, it asks me which i wanna use. how do i do this?
I'm pretty sure that if you install slax from the live-cd, it'll partition your hard drive and setup a bootloader for you (try that if you can). In case it doesn't, here's what usually happens...
you find out what hard drive partition windows ME is on and what partition you've got slax on. Then find what the name of the kernel image is that slax creates.
Once you know that, install grub and enter in the information accordingly.
Distribution: Any nix or other OS I can get my hands on!

Download GAG from here, http://gag.sourceforge.net/
It is a great little bootloader that can boot anything. After you download it you can install it to either a cd or flopy, then boot to it, choose the option 1 for language and keyboard, and find the entries for your nix and windows os and add them then add an icon for each and choose the save to harddisc option. You can also save your configured bootloader to flopy in case GAG is ever overwriten, also note when reinstalling linux to put grub or lilo on the partition linux is on with a 1 or 2 second delay to boot the kernel so you can access failsafe if need be. Or if you wish only to get windows back use gag or your windows cd to boot windows and go start run cmd , then fdisk and then repair mbr It might also be that windows is ovwrwritten and gone. Sorry if that is so.
