Dual boot with Gentoo and XP

I've tried a bunch of different Linux distros and I thought I would try Gentoo. I got everything working right until the boot loader. I've never written a complete grub conf file so I need a little help.

I have a 80 GB hardrive with XP on the first partition and Gentoo boot on the second, gentoo swap on the third and then the main gentoo root on the 4th. So I have grub installed ok, but now I just need the conf file.

thanks

G'day jiggywiggy,

Not info info mate. What is the master boot record pionting to at the moment? I have W2k and Redhat booting be default to w2k ( corporate reasons !) which meant using the w2k boot loader!

Cheers,

here is a copy of my grub.conf file which i have modified slightly to hopefully fit your setup

Code:
default 0
timeout 30
splashimage=(hd0,1)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz

title=Gentoo
root (hd0,1)
kernel (hd0,1)/boot/bzImage root=/dev/hdb4

title=Windows XP
root (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
