Dual boot winxp/ubuntu on raid array and ide drive

Hey all-
I've been fiddling with linux distros for a fair bit of time now, and was wondering if some people could help me with a problem I've been having.

My current system is as follows :
AMD Athlon XP-M 2600+ (OCed to 2.6ghz).
DFI Lanparty NF2UB
2x512 Corsair XMS
ATI Radeon 9800P
Audigy 2ZS
2x WD 36GB Sata Raptors in RAID 0 (win XP install)
1x Maxtor 100GB IDE (storage for winxp)
1x 60 WD 60GB IDE (linux install)

My dilemma is as follows:
I'd like to dual boot with my system, but would like to do so without reinstalling my windows install if I can avoid it (if not, oh well, I'll get over it...but.) Ive been having difficulty getting boot loaders to recognize my sata raid array...possibly b/c I'm not setting it up correctly. Either way, could I install a boot loader on my raid array without borking my winxp install to choose from my raid array or my ide drive? I currently cannot get the boot loader on my ide to work at all atm...did a fresh ubuntu install and it wont load.

Any help is greatly apprecaite...if I need to give you more information I'll be happy to do so.
Many thanks
~Jeff Howard (buildintechie)

Try this thread http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...05#post1918605

Superwhat had the same problem found that lilo got him out of trouble.

The other way to do it is to boot linux from within windows
inwhich case have a look at this thread http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...53#post1916453
