Dual Boot: Windows XP and SuSE 9.1

Having real problems getting a dual boot

I have two hard disks- a 120GB (master) and a 20GB (slave). The 120GB is for Linux; the 20GB for Windows.

I had an installation of SuSE 9.1 on the master, and wished to add Windows XP to the slave. So I disconnected the master and connected the slave. Slave showed up happily as the slave and Windows installed to it. Upon tests it boots fine.

After reconnecting the master and selecting "Windows" from GRUB, no joy. My boot settings were:

title windows
root (hd1,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1

I read here that this wouldn't work. Obligingly, I changed the settings to:

title Windows XP
map (hd1) (hd0)
root (hd1,0)
chainloader+1
makeactive

And still no joy.

Anybody able to tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I believe that to boot Windows, the code should look like:
title windows
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1
