Dual Boot is very slow/Boot Repair didn't work.

Upgraded to Linux Mint 20.1 Cinnamon from 18.3 with a dual boot to Windows. Booting to either OS takes a very long time. Boot repair didn't work.

Received the following:

"Please create a ESP partition (FAT32, 100MB~250MB, start of the disk, boot flag). This can be performed via tools such as Gparted. Then try again."

I'm not sure what this means. Adding a new partition at the beginning of the disk would take many hours. Am I understanding this correctly?

That would indicate you system is uefi capable, boot repair is booing in uefi mode, however windows and mint are installed in legacy/csm mode. Post the boot-repair info output for your system

If your UEFI firmware does not allow to change the boot order, change the default boot entry of the Windows bootloader.

It would indeed take many hours if there's no space at the beginning of the disk and an existing partition would need to be shrinked + moved first.

Then, I'd simply do what it asks.
And run boot-repair again? I'm not familiar with this tool.

It takes a very long time to boot into either OS. The wait is mostly just after I turn on the computer. In Windows, I normally see the circle rotating within seconds. Now, it takes around 73 seconds before it begins to move. I'm guessing it's about the same for Linux but it doesn't have a rotating circle so it's a little harder to see the exact time. Then in Linux, I can't login because the password section is stuck for a few minutes. I reinstalled Windows twice, and Linux three times to get it to boot. Now, I have the long waits but everything else works.
