Dual Boot Installation Help - How to Place Partitions
Hello,
Please forgive a linux newbie, but I am having a heck of a time getting my computer to work the way I want it to. Here is my conundrum.
I have two drive in my box. One is a 120GB Drive (Primary) the other is a 200GB (Secondary). I also have an old 20GB Drive that I want to use in an old computer.
I need to know how best to install linux with Windows 2000 dual boot.
I load windows 2000 on the Primary Drive (20GB worth of space partitioned) and then using windows break up the rest of the drive into one 20GB partition not formatted and one 80GB Partition (NTFS) - I do alot of video editing.
I tried going 20 - 80 - 20 and putting linux on the last 20, but then I couldn't boot the computer. It hung at GRUB.
Is it ok to go 20 Windows - 20 Linux - 80 NTFS Formatted for data storage when I am working in windows.
I am really confused and have spent the entire weekend loading and repartitioning and reloading and ....
Any advice would be so much appreciated.
Thank you,
MalNSF
