Question Drivers

Hello,

I was just wondering why most drivers in Linux are C files.

Example: "driver.c"

So in order for it to work, we must compile it to a "driver.o" file right? Why isn't it precompiled like "driver.dll" in windows systems?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

it so you can look at the beautiful work of the programmer who made it and admire the masterpiece. that and make changes if you want.

also, it gives you that ability to compile in special features that you personally might need that the average user doesn;t need (or remove features you don;t need).

that way, it made especially for your machine and you can sit back and feel really clever coz you made it
