Just try the regular radeon driver.It would work with my laptop if xfree wouldn't be borked (no 3d - other than that fine).

Thanks for your reply. What of the regular radeon driver it will work? RADEON 9800? or 9000? and what do you mean with no 3D? I would like to run Return to Castle Wolfenstein in my Laptop!

Thanks again

I got a radeon 9600 in the laptop and it detects and configures fine with the 3.7.1 driver.Just go to ati and select drivers - linux - graphic driver (not mobile) - any radeon.My xfree is borked though and gives me unresolved symbols errors and only comes up with 'dri' disabled but that got nothing to do with the ati driver.

Hey, Thanks again, I was looking in Graphic Drivers >> Linux >> they have a *.rpm files, and I have Slackware 9.1 I change to tarball files and then

bash-2.05b# ./make.sh
ATI module generator V 2.0
==========================
initializing...
cleaning...
patching 'highmem.h'...
skipping patch for 'drmP.h', not needed
probing for VMA API version...
doing script based build for kernel 2.4.x and similar
compiling './agpgart_be.c'...
compiling './agp3.c'...
compiling './i7505-agp.c'...
compiling './nvidia-agp.c'...
compiling './firegl_public.c'...
linking of fglrx kernel module...
duplicating results into driver repository...

done.
==============================
You must change your working directory to /home/gerardo/ATI/lib/modules/fglrx
and then call ./make_install.sh in order to install the built module.
==============================
bash-2.05b# cd ..
bash-2.05b# ./make_install.sh
*** WARNING ***
Tailored kernel module for fglrx not present in your system.
You must go to /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod subdir
and execute './make.sh' to build a fully customed kernel module.
Afterwards go to /lib/modules/fglrx and run './make_install.sh'
in order to install the module into your kernel's module repository.
(see readme.txt for more details.)

As of now you can still run your XServer in 2D, but hardware acclerated
OpenGL will not work and 2D graphics will lack performance.

failed.

What could be the problem?

Thanks
