Domain Controller in Linux
 
Hi, I m using RHEL5. I just wanna to know that is there any concept of domain controller in linux? If yes, How can we configure our linux server as a domain controller.
Please answer.

Hi, mamtasahai1,

When you say "Domain Controller" in micr.. env. you mean "Centralized authentication for a domain".

Yes, Linux has following things doing the same:

1) NIS
2) LDAP
3) KERBEROS
and so on

Out of which, I have used second option which is used for authentication and as a resource locator on all linux machines. Remaining machines (mic..) use samba server for the purpose which in turn gets the data from the same open ldap server.
