Does a boot sector created automatically when install linux to a partition?

Hi,

Wondering when we install linux to a partition, does a boot sector is being created
at the time of installation ?

If it does, how do we make the GRUB in MBR recognised that particular boot sector?

Thanks for all advices.

Installing Linux to a partition and installing grub to a MBR are two different things. Installers will do both and usually an installer gives you a choice whether or not to install grub to the MBR.

Is it correct to say that GRUB create the boot sector of a particular partition in which the linux is installed in?

Thanks.

This will not be correct. The Boot sector is created at Disk Partitioning time and not at Grub installation time. Grub just installs the code (that boots the Operating system) on appropriate boot sector.

A Good Link for newbie. Refer Grub manual for more comprehensive and detail understanding of it.
