You know what would be excellent? A text-based display manager with all of the functions of a typical one, just implemented using ASCII art style graphics in text mode rather than actual graphics.

I always use one, but I prefer to choose my display manager to match whatever DE I use aesthetically rather than take sides on whichever one is "best".
