Distance leraning with Linux: how to proceed?
Hello all,
I have been told this coming year I will be traveling all around the world for job purposes. However I need to help my son and my daughter do their homework. So I would like to create a system (online) where I: - Can use a tablet to write and this shows up in real time on our screen at home - We are chatting through video, voice and data - My kids can scan a document and it shows up on the screen in real time also For that I already have a server (Debian) with Apache up and running, emailing service and that's pretty much it. I am about about to acquire two Wacom graphical tables (supported by Linux). I would like to know if anyone can give me advice on how I could proceed. I have been looking around and Manhattan is not what I need, and I do not seem to have access to MBone. Maybe the option is a server, maybe it is on simply installing some software on both ends. By the way, both ends can be either Windows or Linux (preferred). Any (quick, classes are about to start) advice will be immensely appreciated. |
hmm..i think remote desktop would be the best thing to do through vnc. check this out
Wb is an remote conferencing application for shared drawing developed by the Network Research Group of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Pre-compiled binaries are available on ftp. Wb-related questions and feedback are welcome and can be sent to the developers via wb@ee.lbl.gov. http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Commu...rd-13508.shtml http://www.wiimoteproject.com/applic...-3)-available/ you do have whiteboard sort of thing in msn messenger where you can write on it with a digital pen :) |
Hello KDELover,
I have checked the VNC solution and I think the only think it would be useful for would be to display on my remote computer the result of the page scanning on the local computer. Was this the objective you proposed it for? Thank you for the WB application, this one I will indeed use. I think I will go with Skype for video-chatting, even though I know they are using a proprietary protocol. Well then, I assume I am all set? I will let you know if this works, tests to be done this coming week. Thanks |
Try these two.
I have two projects that I have written just for this purpose.
