Display Problem with KDE

I have a display problem running KDE.
Many KDE applications like Konqueror,KOffice etc... when resized show ugly bands in the toolbar. See

Strangely they don't show up when i run them from the root account. What went wrong ?

Your site address does not work.

However, I know what you are talking about. I do not know if it an X or KDE problem yet, which is why I dropped down to 8.0 again.

intel 810 chipset, built in Display card.

I don't think it's a hardware problem...since it works perfectly when I am the root.
