is there any real problems with cloning a system, and just changing the name (not like microsoft, with the SID has to be stripped and re-generated with clones)?
i know there will be a couple other places to look for gotchas (like some distros stick the HARDWADDR= in the ifcfg-eth0 file (but stuff like this would be considered minor) ... but generally speaking, is there anything i should look for when cloneing a system?
it won't be easy to list out such options here for cloning
if you want to install this clone on a different hardware then you will face problems with hardware such as Video/audio/network settings and disk partitions etc
for rolling out a number of identical systemsa I would look for a feature such as RedHats 'Kickstart' where you can specify what gets installed on the machines, and you create boot media that starts the install, boot the machine, and the rest is pretty much automated. Other distros have their own solution for this.
