disk


hi,
can i use smartctl and badblocks within a VM to check the disk in host?

Yes, but what do you think you'll actually accomplish? It's a virtual device...you'd essentially be checking a FILE, not the actual physical device (unless you have a SAN LUN allocated).

Did you actually try those commands? Could have run them faster than posting.

yes, why don't you try it?
VM usually can only see virtual devices, there is no access to the real hardware. But without knowing your configuration hard to say more.
