Disable Plug-N-Play OS in BIOS?

Hey-
i read a lot of people telling others to disable the "Plug and Play OS" option from the BIOS. I'm not sure right now if mine is enabled or not. I came from WIn XP Pro to Suse 9.1 Pro, so i assume it was turned on for Windows before.
My question is:
Why do you need to disable the option in BIOS?

Also, if mine is turned on now, and everything is working fine, will there be any benefit or adverse effect by turning it off?

Thanks,
-myk

If everthing works fine then leave it alone. The reason you would turn it off is in case of problems and you need the devices in the system to initialize properly without waiting for an OS to tell them what to do.
