disable monitor standby

Hi!

I want my monitor to be always on. That means no standby, no suspend and no off. I tried it with xset -dpms but that didn't work. And the function of the xscreensaver gui didn't work either.
The machine is a laptop.
Anybody please help me!!
thx

Can you do that in your BIOS? Turn off your power management features?

Turning off APM does not help. I'm having a similar problem - only my laptop goes standby every 2 minutes - even if I'm typing something.
