Disable background image in KDE only when opened in VNC

Have a VNC Server running with maximum colors. The config file (~/.vnc/xstartup) has "startkde &" to launch the window manager.

I cannot seem to find a way to start KDE, but to not have the desktop shown.

Basically looking for the following feature:

* when in a local tty session, use/set the background image
* when using a vncclient, disable the background image

Has anyone done this?
