Directing audio into ffmpeg

I would like to be able to make a webcam movie using the music from xmms or realplayer instead of using the webcam mike. The only sound I've been able to get into ffmpeg is from the webcam mike using /dev/dsp2. I tried everything in the device file that looks like a possibility with no success. Do I need to define my SBLive as a device? If so, what - audio1, mixer?

Why not just turn your speakers up really loud so the webcam mic picks it up ;)

That's what I've been doing but I'd like to improve it plus, since my webcam's driver won't currently compile, I've been using my digital camera instead and there's no mic.
