difficulty with 3d gaming

Hello. thank you for the help that you have already given me. I switched my graphical server to vesa a long while back and it's working great. However, I'm still having trouble working with 3d games in linux. If I run a game under wine, it works fine. However, when I run the linux port of the game such as tux racer, the graphics load very slowly. It's very hard to play like that. I might be having sound trouble with some of the games, too, but I"m not sure. I deeply appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks.

I am having the same problem running Tuxracer. When I typed "glxinfo" I got the following:
glxinfo: relocation error: /usr/local/lib/libGLU.so.1: undefined symbol: __gxx_personality_v0
If I can't get it to work properly, that's cool.... I don't game much anyway, but it would be nice to know why it doesn't work. tnx and cheers

You may need to download some drivers for your card and other dependencies for it. What do you have?

David, I am not sure if your last post was directed at me, but I have gone through my notes and may see my error. I have an
Asus nVIDIA GeForce FX5200 Video Card and am using Slackware 9.1.... I remember getting drivers etc for the nvidia card and getting it configured but I now know that was for when I was using Debian. My notes show google searchs on the Debian site and not for Slackware! Let me check some slack sites to see what they have to offer. Sorry for the confusion. cheers
