Did I download the right Mandrake?

There's one download for i586 and higher and one for something else. I was thinking there was only one type of d/l but after scrolling down the page at there's another d/l for other systems. So I assume the i586 and higher d/l is supposedly compatible with my computer but kinda have doubts now. Mandrake 9.1 works on my computer but when I go into the control center to the Kernel part, I forgot exactly what that was called in control center because I'm fairly new to Linux, but it says I must have a bug in the program or something like that. I have a 1 Gig Athlon based Presario. Or is that d/l just for Pentium Intel based computers? Thanks in advance.

i586 should work on anything from the Pentium 1 upwards. It might not be as efficient as one compiled for the athlon, but it'll work. So you ought to be fine.

If you're having problems, I doubt it's related to that Post the errors you're getting and we'll see if we can help ya.

Not just that error but my system is slow. I don't think it's taking full advantage of my hardware. All my 3D games are slow which would otherwise run fine on windows. But then again they run slow on Redhat 9 and Mandrake 9.1. I have a 1 gig Athlon with 128 megs of ram, and a 64 bit Nvidia Geforce 4 so that should have enough juice to run Chromium which I don't. It took me about 9 hours total for the download. I wonder if it's worth it to redownload, reburn it, and reinstall it to see if the other version of Mandrake would help?

You just need to install the nVidia drivers so your hardware is rendering your OpenGL apps, not your cpu.
