DHCP SERVER ... no free leases!!!!!

i had a problem at my dhcpd.conf

i think i gave a few ips to the network

i fixed it given more range of ips but i want to monitor when it happends again ... i found a way thath is restarting dhcpd with this parameters

Code:
 dhcpd -d -f
and started viewing all the proces of DISCOVER OFFER PACK ....

but i cant stay allways front the monitor...

is there some file where stores all this information?

or if dont ... how can i save all into a file

i tried

Code:
 dhcpd -d -f | cat >> filedhcplog
but doesnt work .. i tried

Code:
 dhcpd -d -f | >> filedhcplog
Code:
 dhcpd -d -f >> filedhcplog
nothing works ...do you have some idea?

Configure logging... you should be able to set the level of detail logged as well..

http://www.daemon-systems.org/man/dhcpd.conf.5.html

Quote:
The log-facility statement

log-facility facility;

This statement causes the DHCP server to do all of its logging on the
specified log facility once the dhcpd.conf file has been read. By
default the DHCP server logs to the daemon facility. Possible log
facilities include auth, authpriv, cron, daemon, ftp, kern, lpr,
mail, mark, news, ntp, security, syslog, user, uucp, and local0
through local7. Not all of these facilities are available on all
systems, and there may be other facilities available on other sys-
tems.

In addition to setting this value, you may need to modify your sys-
log.conf file to configure logging of the DHCP server. For example,
you might add a line like this:

local7.debug /var/log/dhcpd.log
