Developing a realtime software based on linux OS

Can the Linux software support a realtime tracking software?
for example, a real air traffic control system which could track hundred of moving targets in realtime. The system have many sensors hook up and feedback to the central system using networks.

Can Linux OS able to handle this type of realtime software?

hmmmm... that really is up to the developer to do, not quite a Operating system issue. If anything, Linux is a real multi-tasking operating system, unlike many others out there...

Define real-time... what granularity do you need in terms of milliseconds?
Linux has pretty small time-slices, but if it's not granular enough; there's
QNX, RTos or RTLinux....

Cheers,
