/dev/xvda1 should be checked for errors

Every time I login to my Amazon EC2 instance (running Ubuntu 14) I see this notification:
Code:
*** /dev/xvda1 should be checked for errors ***
I would obviously like to fix it but haven't the slightest idea what to do. It sort of complicates matters that the machine is not connected with SATA drives or whatever but rather is a virtual machine running from an EBS block.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I fixed this issue with these steps:
Code:
Edit rcS file sudo vi /etc/default/rcS

below the line

#FSCKFIX=no

Add

FSCKFIX=yes

Then do this

sudo touch /forcefsck

Reboot from ec2 console.
Note that rebooting by typing "sudo reboot" from CLI didn't fix the problem. I had to login to AWS console via my browser and reboot it from there.
