I have been reading about /dev/random, and taken a look around my kernel, and discovered that the problem is I lack any sources of entropy. I have tried adding some, but so far it does not seem to be doing anything --- I shall continue playing around with that for a while.
I have since noticed another problem, and I would hate to start another thread for it. I used to make a ramdisk for /tmp/, however, it does not seem to be creating it any more. I noticed the problem when I tried adding some entropy to my kernel, but even after reverting things to how they were before, I do not see a change (so it was not likely caused by that).
Here's what I am getting:
# mke2fs /dev/ram0
mke2fs 1.38 (30-Jun-2005)
It just hangs at that point now: no errors, it does not die out at any point. I just ^C after a while, and it exits. The only thing I have done between it working and trying to add entropy was install a ssh server, but I have serious doubts that could have done anything --- it's not even running yet!
Any suggestions would be most welcome, as this one it really beginning to give me a headache!
