/dev/sda1 problem and how to continue start FC5

My /dev/sda1 has problem and we are unable to start my FC5, how to bypass it .. ?

please help

On which partition the "/dev/sda1" is mounted?
Whats the error are you getting in the console?

on ext3 ..
failed to ef2sck and it asks me to run fsck manually .. I ran it but it takes too long ..I don't know what it's working or not

OK. Please wait till that gets completed. If not, boot the machine with the rescue CD and then run the FSCK with the following command,

fsck -Cya /dev/sda1
