could someone give me a link to what everything in the /dev folder mean, like
/dev/hda = primary master ide(i think that is right)
/dev/hdb = primary slave ide
/dev/hdc = secondary master ide
.....

everything? in a flat /dev directory you can have easily over a thousand entries....!

If you have the kernel code installed in /usr/src/linux, the file you are looking for is /usr/src/linux/Documentation/devices.txt
