Desktop look and feel.

1) Is it possible to download more window border/decorations for KDE? I currently use the CDE look (i.e., the standard min/max/close from 'doze plus the "thumbtack" button)--It's functional, and it makes sense to me (unlike the mac looks), but it's also boring. Mind you, I don't like the borders that come with many of the sawmill themes in GNOME, either.

2) Every time I try to download a KDE theme, I get a bunch of good stuff (wallpapers and whatnot) with a .themerc file--KDE 2.1.1 looks for .ktheme, and the legacy theme importer looks for .gtkrc and pixmaps. If I try to use the legacy theme importer, specify the theme directory as the "pixmaps" folder, and use *.themerc instead of *.gtkrc, nothing happens. How can I use the .themerc themes?

3) is there a .conf file somewhere I can play with to change the look and feel of my windows in KDE? How about GNOME? (I prefer KDE, but I use GNOME every now and again so that I can work easily in either environment. In GNOME, I use the Sawmill WM)

i can't stand kde, it's so ... boring. it's all nice neat corners, and putting things away neatly after you've finished with them. ughh. No wonder the GNOME people left kde to go it alone... and what a result! gnome rocks sooo much more than kde. esp with sawfish and MicroGui. That can all be changed in the gnome control centre (gnomecc). As for kde, well i wouldn't know... cos i'ts stinky!

my vote on kde also falls into the "good but boring" box :) -
you might want to try gnome with enlightenment - it's made to be extremely configurable. there's not much about it that you can't change pretty easily.

I use both KDE and GNOME, to try too keep familiarity with both.

I know KDE is theme'able, and I'd like to know how to use those .themerc files, not just start a flamewar over desktop managers :p

Besides--I can't find any good anime themes for Enlightenment or Sawmill :D

:) fair enough - have you tried www.themes.org? they've got themes for pretty much everything and anything. i know there's quite a few kde's in there.
