If you're the administrator, you have rights to clear log files and dmesg logs already. If you're NOT the administrator, you can't, and can't install any software to do it.

Are you the administrator, and why do you need to do this?

Logs deleted after removing the messages and dmesg file, still showing what are the devices have inserted.

Again:
  • Are you the administrator of the box?
  • Why do you want to do this?
  • And now, where is it "still showing"? What are you running to see this?

means you fixed it I'd appreciate it if you shared what it exactly was that you changed or deleted.

*Also this isn't a Linux Security-related thread so I'll move it to the Linux General forum.

Has anybody figured out how to clear the history/registrations?

I have a USB printer that was connected a while ago and now when I connect it, it gets detected as something incorrectly. I need to clear that so I can re-install / get it working properly.

Any help would be appreciated.

This confused me due to the original thread title and discussion. Please start an original thread for your question and don't resurrect an old thread to ask what seems to be an entirely different question.
