Deleted disk

I use an external HD partitioned to work both with XP (fat fs) and with Mandrivia (ext3).
Unfortunately I deleted /mnt/win_ext (the XP partition) and I'm not able to recovery all the datas within XP.
Is there anything available under Linux to solve my disaster?

Is this the right location into the forum to post this question?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Did you delete the mountpoint while the partition was mounted?

Could I ask if you are actually running XP and Mandrake directly from external harddrive or from internal harddrive while using external HD just 4 extra partitions to use for other files etc?

As your second supposition: I use my internal bi-partitioned HD for the systems and the external one for extra space, tipically to store my photos and to mount my videos.
I think every one of you could think my wife's reaction on yesterday evening when I told her we've lost all our child photos.
Fortunately I found them later on in another directory on my internal HD but those were'nt the only datas I lost.
