Debian / X won't start


Hi,

I tried to install Debian 3.0 stable, but X won't start.

I get the following error message:

what is your video card? you may have to get the drivers for it before you can use X

Hmmm !!

I think you don't have the good configuration for your screen
Check its maximum resolution, is honrizontal and vertical refresh, you might have made a mistake there.

I already solved the problem.
"UseFBDev" in the "Device" Section had to be "false" instead of "true".

I had this same problem, now I may switch one of my slack desktops to deb.




BTW: What does the framebuffer do in x?
