Correct. I have deb on sdc1, and sdc2 is live-rw.

ok
so, you just made the partition as live-rw yes?

and its ext3?

and you used

Code:
mkfs.ext3 /dev/sdc2 -L live-rw
right?

maybe its the username thing
try removing all that from menu.lst

I thought I replied to that last night... must not have gone through. Sorry about that.
No change. Still gives me the "unable to find" messages. I was going to post this from there, but I shouldn't have expected a live CD to support my wireless card OOB.
