Debian installation problem
I am trying to install Debian Linux 3.1r0a. During normal installation from CD ROM, when setup gets to the part where it is "Detecting hardware to find CD-ROM drives" it hangs when "Loading module 'ide-disk' for 'Linux ATA DISK'..." and won't continue with the setup. Any ideas what the problem might be or what I could do?
Here is my hardware config:
Intel SE440BX Motherboard
Intel P2 400 Mhz with MMX
128MB (2x 64) RAM
MSI 52x/16x DVD-ROM
Iomega Zip100 drive
Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM 2MB Cache HDD
D-Link DFE-530TX+ Ethernet NIC
Sony PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse
17" Samsung SyncMaster 712N LCD Monitor
TRENDnet 2-port PS/2 KVM
Partition setup:
8GB FAT32 Primary Active (Win 98 SE and Win 2K Dual log)
29.28GB Unallocated
<edit>I fixed the problem by removing the Zip Drive. Hopefully the rest goes smoothly.</edit>
