I downloaded db3.2.9 from sleepcat.com ...to work on someones code and she told me to " cd to source distribution". Anyone know what this means? And how to do it? From there, I am supposed to "cd build_unix" and then she write "../dist/configure" "make" "su" and finally "make install". Any help would ne appreciated.

cd means to change directory. most likely you need to cd into where ever the source of the file is. from there you can run the ./configure or ../dist/configure depending on the program. the make, su and make install look like the steps invoving installing the program.
If you find the db3.2.9, most likely there are instructions in a README or INSTALL file you can read to install the program from there.
