Data on Windows to Linux migration
There are so many different sources of information on migrating to Linux, I don't even know where to start. I know this isn't the sort of question that is typically asked here but where can I find statistical information on the percentage of migrations to Linux from Windows (or anything else)? Thanks.

I don't have any hard data, but I think my estimate of 99.99% is probably pretty close to the truth if the question is what percentage of Linux users migrated from Windows.

I probably worded my question poorly. I was trying to find out how many people, business, governments, etc are migrating to Linux. Is it just a slow trickle, a raging flood or something inbetween?

This is nowhere near real numbers (I haven't registered here myself), but there is a place that counts "registered" Linux users:

You're probably better off starting a new thread for this. In your new thread, make sure you put your computer specifications up (how much RAM, how much hard drive) space, what you want to do with your computer, whether you have broadband or dial-up, and what kind of CD-burning capabilities you have.

Hi Cecy,
I think what was being suggested is that you create a brand new thread for yourself to ask your questions in. You've sort of "hijacked" my thread regarding Linux migration. You might have better luck posting your questions in the Newbie forum which is geared for the beginner:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...p?s=&forumid=8
Sorry if I seem rude, but I don't think you'll get the results you're looking for in this particular thread. Welcome to LinuxQuestions and good luck.

It's called the "new thread" button.
Un hijacking:
um... I think I posted a link about this in the News n Articles forum- it was Australia centric- and I'm not sure if it has been approved yet- but there are people trying to keep tabs on this stuff.
hope this helps.
