Cygwin .bashrc settings not carrying over to startx Xwin session
 

Hi. I am running Cygwin. I have my .bashrc defining a new prompt style and defining some aliases. This works fine. However, when I run startx from the cygwin bash prompt to start xwindows, I do not get the new prompt in the x session and my aliases are not available. Seems like neither the .bashrc or .bash_profile are being run (the latter invokes the former). Any idea what may cause this? Do I need to do anything special to have my .bash and .bash_profile settings carry over to the xwin session?

First off all, do a better thing, install Linux in a VM!

But if you want to do this, check in the doc of Cygwin about this!
