Custom Keyboard Shortcuts in Gnome

Hello,

I'm trying to set up some custom keyboard shortcuts in Gnome (I just installed RedHat 9 on my laptop). In the Preferences menu there is a keyboard shortcuts tool, but it doesn't have an option to add my own custom shortcuts. Is there another way to do this? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

My problem is that I don't have an option to enter new shortcuts--i.e., assign a key combination to open a terminal window, etc. Any advice on how to do that? There is no terminal window option when I open the keyboard shortcuts tool under the gnome preferences.

Hmm...I don't know if that link applies, but I appreciate the help! If I figure it out I'll post here.

Ok, I managed to figure it out:

1. You have to open the GConf Editor (gconf-editor).

2. Navigate to the /apps/metacity/global_keybindings key

3. There will be several values of the form: run_command_n (n = 1,2,3...12).

4. Edit the value of one of them to the keybinding you want (e.g., <Ctrl>1)

5. Go to the /apps/metacity/keybinding_commands key

6. Edit the value of the corresponding command_n to the command you want to run (e.g., gnome-terminal).

Perhaps there's an easier way to do this?
