CUPS (Completely Unforgiving Printing System) help.

Ok... I'm having problems getting my Canon BJC 1000 working with CUPS. I've had it working before using the BJC 250 driver on Slackware 7.1 (that was like a year ago). Now after starting with a fresh install using Slackware 8.1 I tried getting my printer working again using CUPS and following my notes from the last time I did it.

However, now I seem to have missed something or maybe I haven't but either way I can't seem to get my printer to work....

According to CUPS the printer is ready and waiting for print jobs and according to lpstat:
scheduler is running
system default destination: Canon-BJC-1000
device for Canon-BJC-1000: parallel:/dev/lp0
Canon-BJC-1000 accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00
printer Canon-BJC-1000 is idle. enabled since Jan 01 00:00

but when go to print a "Test Page" in cups, or KDE Print Manager, it immediately get aborted, or occasionally says "completed" but when I got to restart the job it says: "client-error-not-possible"

this is a snip of my /var/log/cups/error_log:
I [17/Feb/2003:23:07:19 -0500] Job 1 queued on 'Canon-BJC-1000' by 'phil'.

it seems it accepts the first few attempts then denies access on the third.....

I'm stumped anyone have any ideas? I really hate booting Winblows for printing..... grrrrr

Thanks,
SIR_Taco
