Creating single realm for multiple sites access

I have a number of different web applications hosted on a server. I want only members to have access to any of the application in this realm and others to be sent to another URL for sign up, information, etc.

I would like to create a realm, an area, an environment, what ever you'd call it, that is protected. When someone wants access, they need to sign up. Once they have become a paid member, they can access any of the applications within this realm. If their account runs out, they would be sent back to the URL for renewal, etc.

Anyone have any ideas? I did this once a long time ago using RADIUS and NT's IIS. I'm 100% linux now however and RADIUS is probably more complicated than I need.
