creating livecd from running distribution

Hi,

I have installed ubuntu and made a number of changes, and now want to make it into a livecd which can be booted, much like knoppix and other similar live cd distributions.

I know that i can use the ubuntu livecd, extract it, make changes, and then re-create the livecd. but this is not what im after. The problem is that i have the ubuntu that is installed running perfectly, and i have made many many changes over a long period of time, which i can't reproduce. My question (sorry for repeating myself) is it possible to create a livecd from this existing installation?

many thanks!

Daniel

mkisofs?

You try playing with mkisofs (more info in the man page).
once you have an iso, you could burn it and install a loader on the disk.
I'm sure that must be possible. Anyone else try this or have a better idea?
