creating hybrid MBRs

Hello all, sorry I did not know where to post this as none of the other area really fitted this (move it if you must)

I have a bootable pen drive I use to fix computers (few linux distros, fixing tools etc..) it works fantastic in both a efi and bios environment, but I am trying to get it to work with secure boot, someone suggested I use a hybrid MBR as a GPT table is required for secure boot.

I am familiar with gdisk and other programs, but dont know the exact commands to get this done, I have searched High and low for a walkthrough but cannot find one, Does anyone know where I can find one, or know how to do it?

Thank you in advance

Scott

Hybrid MBR won't solve a secure boot issue. That requires a signed boot loader - signed by a key that Microsoft provides.
You are going about this the wrong way. Create your tools disk with a distro that has a key (or shim) that accommodates secure boot. Or simply turn secure boot off for the duration of your boot - you are in control of the machine anyway.

thanks for the advice

I work at a Computer Repair shop, so it just gets tedious disabling secure boot all the time,

I will look into it, We pay for partedmagic and I believe he said thats secure boot capable so I will edit one of his Isos

Thanks for replying with your knowledge

Regards

Good decision - have a read of this to see why.
You really don't want to get involved with them unless you really have to.

I Have 30 people currently using my bootcd, one day I will have to figure out this secure boot, and move to it. maybe once I hit 50.

It has everything you need to fix a computer and more (it's a revamp of a (in)famous boot cd starting with H) i'd just like it to be secure boot capable.

But if you're saying it's too much hassle then I will leave it for now

Thanks for the advice

Regards

Scott
