create share folder password

Dear Expers,

I use samba to share folder in centos to windows.
How can i create a password for each share folder?
Below are my config of that share folder:

[ShareFolder]
Comment = ShareFolder
path = /root/Desktop/share
browseable = Yes
read only = No
guest only = No
create mask = 0755

if i set 'guest only = yes' , then no need password to access
if i set 'guest only = no', when i access from windows , it prompt guest login and password. But i haven't set guest password

How can i set a specific password to access this folder?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, it's probably not that simple. Permissions on folders depend on the user and group, and passwords are tied to users, not folders. So what you probably need is to make sure the authorized users have accounts on the centos machine with access to the folder. Look at the "By-Example" section in www.samba.org It'll walk you through some simple examples, I've found it very helpful, I hope you do too.

man smb.conf
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/...VALIDATIONSECT

create a linux user/group that owns the shared directory and give that user a password.
place that user name into the "user =" parameter for that share.
Ensure that "guest only = no" is set for that share.

I think that should do it.

Also samba really requires you to read the whole manual as there a many many options to set everything.
