Copying xterm or rxvt messages to clipboard

The biggest problem I'm having currently in fluxbox is - how do I copy xterm or rxvt messages to the clipboard so that I can paste error messages here?

There are two copy/paste methods in X. The clipboard is not supported by all applications. However, the selection buffer always works in X:

copy: highlight the text
paste: middle-click
