Copy existing root fs to nfs server

copy existing root fs to nfs server
Hi,

I want to setup pxe/tftp nfs boot for my client machine. I have currently an existing debian system on my client machine and would like to copy it to the server so that I can have the system up and running as it is now, but through nfs mount.

What is the best way to copy the whole fs? Will permissions will be still valid once moved. For example, user1 is both the user and group in my current system. Can that be the same in my server or I need to manipulate permissions?

Thanks,
Indy

I think you just need to use 'dd',(see 'man dd').
